How we write our guides

Editorial policy

How our security guides are written, checked, corrected and kept up to date, and who is responsible for each step.

Last updated · Bluestone Security Pty Ltd

In short

Every Bluestone guide is written by a named, licensed member of our team, checked against primary sources, reviewed by a second licensed supervisor and dated. We fix errors openly and never accept payment for mentions.

Who writes Bluestone’s guides?

Our guides are written by [author name], our operations manager, who has [number] years in Victorian security and holds a current Victoria Police security licence.

Each guide names its author and reviewer at the top of the page and links to their profile, so you can see their role, experience and licence. Read [author name]’s profile or meet the whole team.

How do we choose what to write about?

We write about the questions clients and site managers ask us on site visits, in quotes and on the phone, so each guide answers a real decision someone is making.

  • Questions asked more than once in quotes or site assessments
  • Changes to Victorian licensing or law that affect clients
  • Common mistakes we see when taking over from another provider

No company, supplier or advertiser can pay for a topic, a mention or a position in a guide.

What sources do our guides use?

We use primary sources first: Victoria Police Licensing and Regulation Division, Victorian and Commonwealth legislation, Australian Standards and insurer guidance. Each is linked where it is used.

How is each guide checked before it is published?

Every guide goes through five steps before publishing, including a second review by a licensed supervisor who did not write it.

  1. Draft. The author writes from first-hand experience on our sites.
  2. Source check. Every rule, number and legal point is checked against its source and linked.
  3. Second review. [Supervisor name], control room supervisor, reviews the guide for accuracy.
  4. Publish with dates. The page shows when it was published, updated and last fact-checked.
  5. Scheduled review. Each guide is checked again every [12] months, or sooner when the law changes.

Does Bluestone use AI to write guides?

[Choose one and delete the other.] We do not use AI tools to write our guides. / AI tools may help with outlines, spelling and grammar, but every guide is written, fact-checked and signed by a named member of our team.

Either way, a person is responsible for every sentence, and every fact is checked against a source before publishing.

Are Bluestone’s guides independent?

Our guides are written to help you decide, even when the right answer is not one of our services. Where we mention our own services, we say so plainly.

  • We do not accept payment, free products or favours for mentions
  • We do not rank or review competitors by name
  • Where another option suits you better, such as CCTV instead of a guard, the guide says so

How do we correct mistakes?

If you find an error, email hello@bluestonesecurity.com.au with the page and the problem. We check it within [timeframe], fix it if we got it wrong and add a dated correction note to the guide.

Small fixes such as typos are made without a note. Anything that changes the meaning of the advice gets a visible, dated correction.
